New filter series for line installation

New filter series for line installation

Argo-Hytos spin-on filters are frequently found in hydraulic systems in small wheel loaders and excavators, in mowers and tele-handlers as well as in municipal vehicles and machine tools. These filters have design-related negative effects on the environment because a large part of the filter housing is disposed of during maintenance.

Seriously, wind turbines are NOT bad for your health

Seriously, wind turbines are NOT bad for your health There’s been much debate as to whether or not wind turbines pose health risks. A panel of independent scientists and doctors have found that there is little or no evidence that wind turbines pose a health risk to nearby residents. Those living near wind turbines have complained the turning of the blades, flickering light, and vibrations have been the cause of their dizziness, nausea or anxiety. However, a recent report, commissioned by the state Department of Environmental Protection, has found no evidence to support this. The report did find “limited evidence” that the noise from turbines can cause sleep disruption or annoyance in those living near wind projects.

Renewable Energy Watch™

Hey buddy, can you spare a machinist?

Let's talk manufacturing. At a recent conference, a colleague from a Chicago-based machine shop showed me pictures of the huge parts his team manufacturers for the wind industry. A gearbox front housing with torque arms, for instance, looks more than 6-ft in diameter. Main shafts for a turbine are some 6-ft long and 2-ft in diameter with 5-ft diameter flanges on one end. The company manager, Mike Milbratz says, wind energy may be the only industry that needs parts at automotive cost and aerospace quality inexpensive and high precision. His remark on quality also means wind turbine parts must be made or repaired by trained and skilled machinists. So how do you find such people?
